Endovenous Thermal Ablation is a treatment alternative to surgical stripping of varicose veins.
With the use of ultrasound, a small catheter (tube) is inserted into the diseased vein, usually through a needle. Next thermal energy, or heat, is delivered inside the vein. This causes the vein to collapse and seal shut and the blood is thus rerouted to healthier veins. This procedure is done in the comfort of our office under local anesthesia.
Patients can expect to wear a leg wrap and/or prescription compression stocking on the treated leg for roughly 1-2 weeks following the procedure. And conveniently, you can walk immediately after the procedure; and most individuals are able to return to work the next day.
